Dock Staff at Freedom Boat Club play a central role in delivering an exceptional on‑the‑water experience for members. This position combines customer service, hands‑on marina operations, and basic boating support. Dock Staff ensure boats are clean, fueled, safe, and ready for use, while also assisting members with departures, returns, and general boating questions. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, interacting with people, and being around boats.
Greet members upon arrival and provide friendly, helpful service throughout their visit.
Assist members with check‑in and check‑out procedures.
Help load and unload gear, coolers, and personal items.
Provide basic boating guidance, club rules, and safety reminders.
Answer questions about boat operation, local waterways, and club policies.
Prepare boats before each reservation, including:
Cleaning interiors and exteriors
Checking fuel levels
Inspecting safety equipment (life jackets, fire extinguishers, etc.)
Ensuring electronics and accessories are functioning
Perform light maintenance tasks such as wiping down surfaces, removing trash, and securing lines.
Report mechanical issues or damage to management or dock leads.
Assist with docking and undocking boats, including line handling and guiding members safely.
Maintain a clean, organized dock area, including walkways, storage areas, and fueling stations.
Monitor boat traffic and ensure safe movement around the marina.
Follow all safety protocols for fueling, boat handling, and member interactions.
Conduct pre‑departure safety checks and ensure boats meet club standards.
Educate members on safe boating practices when needed.
Respond to on‑water or dockside issues by following club procedures (e.g., towing assistance, incident reporting).
Maintain awareness of weather conditions and communicate concerns to members and management.
Work closely with other dock staff and managers to coordinate boat availability and turnaround times.
Support special events, training sessions, or member orientations as needed.
Contribute to a positive, cooperative team environment.
Boating experience preferred but not required (training provided).
Ability to lift 30–50 lbs.
Valid driver’s license; boating license may be required depending on region.
Comfortable swimming or working near water.
Outdoor, fast‑paced marina setting.
Weekends and holidays often required (peak boating times).
